Healthcare is one of the most job-secure fields of the next few decades, and knowledge of billing, contracts, and coding and claims can open many doors. Our certificate program will give you basic foundational knowledge and skills and an understanding of available jobs. The program consists of eight required modules developed by a professional in the field and is designed to introduce students to a career in hospital or clinic insurance billing, coding and claims. Content is related to insurance methodologies, concepts in medical diagnosis coding and procedure coding, along with an in-depth look at hospital charges, claim integrity, the revenue cycle, and revenue finding opportunities.
Touchpoints include CPT-procedure and ICD-10 diagnosis coding introductory classes. A comprehensive focus is on learning the structure and integrity of a claim prior to submitting to insurance. Skill-builders include billing, collections, customer service, clinic management, and revenue integrity.
This program is designed for students to take all 8 modules, but that is not required, and individual modules may be taken; however, only students who attend and successfully complete all modules and the final assessment will earn a certificate. No textbooks required.
Information Session - attend the upcoming Information Session on Saturday, February 25 at 11am to learn how the Westside Extension program can prepare you for a high-demand career. You'll get a chance to meet with the instructor, who will answer your questions about the industry, jobs, and how to enroll.

In her current role, she has authored countless revenue generating/charge capture initiatives engaging ancillary departments to look at their practices and equate them to billable services.
