Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1) Remote LIVE Information Session
The Westside Extension Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1) program is designed to fulfill the CPT-1 requirements for the State of California. Classes are taught through lectures, class exercises, and clinal experiences. The clinical instruction (externship) provides hands-on training in venipuncture technique, laboratory assisting, and administrative office duties. Our program will prepare students for entry-level positions as phlebotomists in hospital, clinics, laboratory service centers, and physicians' offices. Upon completion of the program, students will qualify to apply to the State of California as certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT-1).
Our program includes: 24 hours of basic didactic, 24 hours of advanced didactic, 40 hours of externship, blood draw practice, materials/study guides, supplies, liability insurance, and exam preparation. Class will be held on the West Los Angeles College campus this fall.
Become a Phlebotomist in 4 Steps:
- Classroom Time—48 hours at West LA College
- National Exam—2 hours
- Externship—40 hours in clinical setting over one week
- Submit Documents to the State of California
Requirements: Minimum HS Diploma/GED, 18 years+, Scrubs (new, used, or borrowed). Negative TB test, proof of immunizations, and physical clearance required before externship placement.
